The latest PrestaShop installation package will be downloaded from the official website to upload on the development web server. As this server will be used to test and stage your PrestaShop installation before going live, we use high-performance ones such as Apache or Ngnix. Post this; we create a database by installing MySQL on the webserver to get it configured from the admin panel for the following upgradation steps.

Typically, your store theme fits compatible with the new PrestaShop version 1.7. However, if it is customised or outdated, it may no longer function properly. Then our developers and designers will replan its entire UI/UX as per the current market standards and your brand characteristics. Next, we will optimise its visuals, such as interactive elements, animations, transitions, etc., as per the new store version to get it to work seamlessly on all major web and mobile resolutions.

Custom scripts will be written and executed in the browser to migrate data from PrestaShop 1.6 to 1.7. But before we do that, a complete backup of your PrestaShop's source store data will be taken, including product categories, files, customer data, product SKUs, shipping records, orders, and then organised properly to make the process less complicated.

Upgrading PrestaShop involves changing various settings in the source code file. Due to this, your existing Prestashop modules and extensions may not work as they were with the previous version. Our developers will check for a suitable counterpart in PrestaShop's marketplace. If we couldn't find anything, we will redesign your modules and code them as per the new PrestaShop 1.7 architecture. Next, these modules will be tested for unforeseen errors and bugs. 

After upgrading PrestaShop, the key areas of your store will be tested. This may include testing functionality, compatibility, appearance, payment processing, etc. Strong attention will be dedicated to the areas that have been modified according to the new version's architecture. Then, the checkout process will be examined if functioning properly, especially when changes are done with the payment processes and gateways. Last but not least, thorough testing of the search navigation bar will be done to ensure customers easily find what they are looking for, regardless of what version your PrestaShop online store version is using.

This is the final step of the process. It includes copying all changes made in the staging to the live server so the site is updated for all visitors. The main benefit of this step is that it allows for testing in a controlled environment before making changes visible to the public. This helps to ensure that any issues remaining can be discovered and resolved before they cause disruptions both in the front-end and back office. In addition, staging server deployment provides a way to roll back changes if necessary. If any problems do occur after going live, we can quickly revert to a previous version of the site while our developers work on a fix.
